1st Mosque to be executed under Baiti in Heaven project in progress

Out of Awqaf General Trust vision of charity waqf development, the creation of several waqf projects and the reinforcement of Islamic mercy and values, the Trust in Sharjah announced the kick-start of arrangements to build the first mosque from the revenues of Baiti in Heaven project at the Yarmouk district in Sharjah. The project will be set up on an area of 2818 sq. m.

The project consultant was selected and work is currently underway to design the mosque which includes a praying place for male and another for females as well as a house for the Imam and Moathen and waqf shops.

Baiti in Heaven project, which was launched by the Trust in 2006, has managed to collect donations worth AED 4 million. It is the first project ever in the United Arab Emirates that give the largest number of donors the opportunity to donate according to their financial capabilities and to participate in establishing mosques on the state lands. The project offers fixed amount bonds to contribute to the construction of mosques.

Mosques are, traditionally, built by one person but this project opens the door for everyone to participate as donations start with AED 50.
