Committee Formation :

In 2006, the committee was set up of staff of Awqaf General Trust in Sharjah under the title (Waqf Voluntary Committee).

Committee Objective :

Promoting voluntary work among the staff and activating its role in the society.

Committee Powers :

The Committee is entrusted with activating the role of the employee in voluntary work in his society by visiting hospitals, jails, handicapped centres, elderly homes, helping pilgrims on their travel for pilgrimage, providing those fasting Ramadan with breakfast, etc…

Committee Agenda :

A day is set every month for voluntary work. A number of employees will be selected for a programme to be determined beforehand by the organizing committee. During the visit, symbolic gifts wil be distributed over the targeted party.

Administrative decision on setting up Waqf Voluntary Committee

Administrative Decision No. 61 in 2006

Reviewing civil service law no. 5 in 1996 of Sharjah Emirate, Ameeri Decree no. 2 in 1996 on setting up Awqaf General Trust and in the light of work interest and necessities, the following is decided:

Article (1) :

A Committee shall be set up at the Trust (Waqf Voluntary Committee) of the following names  

The Committee's mission is :

1. Collecting names of volunteer staff.
2. Setting up a data base for volunteers.
3. Coordinating and selecting programmes.
4. Preparing a special newsletter of the suggested programmes.

The committee shall meet on the 5th and 20th of every month. The programme shall be executed mid-every month plus emergency cases.

This decision shall be applicable as of the date of its issuance.

Article (2) :

Those concerned shall implement this decision each according to his power.

Activities and Visits :

Visiting Al Quassimi & Kuwaiti Hospital in Sharjah :

The Waqf Volunteering Committee made up of Awqaf General Trust staff paid it first voluntary visit on Saturday 27\5\2006. Two committees were formed to visit Al Qassimi and Al Kuwaiti. Symbolic gifts were distributed on patients during the visit.

Visit to Elderly Home :

The voluntary committee set up by staff of Awqaf General Trust in Sharjah paid the second voluntary visit on Thursday 15\6\2006 to elderly homes in Sharjah.

Visit to reform and punishment establishment in Sharjah :

The voluntary committee set up of staff of Awqaf General Trust in Sharjah paid a voluntary visit on Thursday 23\11\2006 to Reform and Punishment establishment in Sharjah. The committee was received by Colonel Mohammad Eid Saeed Mazloum the Establishment Manager.

Waqf Voluntary Committee in service of Pilgrims :

A delegation representing Awqaf General Trust saw off the 18 pilgrims heading for the holy land at the expense of the Awqaf General Trust in Sharjah. They served and followed up travel procedures. They provided them with comfort means whether being traveling by land or air through Sharjah International Airport. They also gave them booklets on Hajj rituals and prayers.

Awqaf General Trust Voluntary Committee for serving faster set up a special tent

Awqaf General Trust Voluntary Committee for serving faster set up a special tent for this purpose near the Trust in compliance with the Prophet (Peace be upon him) saying “Whoever feeds a faster will be rewarded (by Allah) just like the faster without deducting anything of the faster” More than 570 Iftar (Breakfast) mails were distributed over fasters everyday. The tent received an influx of fasters. The voluntary committee was at hand to serve the faster throughout the month of Ramadan.
